Craft Beer
Craft beer, a phenomenon that originated in the United States, began in 1978 when President Jimmy Carter signed a law allowing home brewing again. This allowed countless small, craft breweries to emerge, spread across the country.
The previous ban on home brewing was a legacy of Prohibition, a period from 1920 to 1933 when the production and sale of alcohol in the US was prohibited. Although consumption itself was not illegal, alcohol was not allowed to be made or traded at that time.
The influences of the different beer styles can be traced back to the various groups of immigrants. For example, German immigrants brought wheat beer, English immigrants introduced ales, and Italian communities mainly produced wine.
In short, craft beer stands for traditionally brewed beer, made with passion in small quantities and a wide variety of flavors.
